Tran-SET Transportation Veteran Scholarship

Purpose

Transportation is a very broad and dynamic field that includes careers from pavement design and construction to social sciences assisting development of Policy and Planning. Transportation related degrees include but are not limited to project management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, policy and planning, traffic management, workforce development of transportation workface, computer science, and more!

The Tran-SET Transportation Veteran Scholarship will award $10,000 to two students (each, per year) for up to two years.

The Scholarship is part of Tran-SET’s initiative to advance the transportation workforce and to develop its next generation of leaders by: (1) attracting and supporting diverse, promising individuals to the transportation field and (2) providing experiences through education and cutting-edge research to more properly prepare these individuals as they enter the workforce.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be enlisted in the military or be a veteran
  • Be enrolled in a graduate program at Louisiana State University (LSU) with a research component and in a transportation-related field
  • Be able to work on campus 20 hours/week on a Tran-SET-funded research project

Instructions and Application

The Scholarship is continuous, accepting applications year-round. However, applications must be submitted by June 20th, 2021 for the Fall 2021 semester. Applicants should also apply to the LSU graduate program while the Scholarship application is being reviewed, to avoid delays.
